As she put on her makeup and checked it twice she twirled around and told herself she looked nice. She snuck out of the house, choosing to be quiet not to wake up her parents and she was quiet as a mouse.
Well as The Story Goes she ended up pregnant sad and alone. The happiness of a little girl with so many dreams all gone. With disappointment in their eyes her parents asked , where did we go wrong? Well…. The young lady responded I always wanted to be like you. And just like you I’m having a child out of wedlock too.
The poem above is so powerful when you think about it. Here is a daughter who tells her parents that she is literally following in their footsteps. It may not be what her parents had in mind for her. However, what has occurred is a generational curse. Why is it that we feel that once we become Christians everything that we have done in the past is forgotten. Yes, Jesus does give us a clean slate and we are forgiven. However, there is something that we may have sown that also must be reaped. So often we forget that there are consequences to sin. Sometimes we think just because we don’t necessarily reap the consequences ourselves that they won’t be done in our blood line.
It’s what we call generational curses, sin that may have occurred in our blood line or sins our ancestors may have done. Don’t get me wrong our God is a gracious and loving God that gives grace, however there is something called spiritual warfare. Where as Paul explains that we do not fight against flesh and blood, but against spiritual things that are not only a threat to us but to our blood line. It’s imperative that we learn how to pray over ourselves and our families. We must learn how to fight! Can your prayer life go to another level? Is there things that you can ask God to reveal to you about your family line? There are things my brothers and sisters that can began and end with you! You can break every tie that has been bound to the generation before you. Remember we can do all things through Christ.
Ephesians 6:12 King James Version (KJV)
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Philippians 4:13 New King James Version (NKJV)
13 I can do all things through [a]Christ who strengthens me.
WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!
